Important traffic management information
- Work on the final stages of work to open the “hamburger” at the new look Milton Interchange will take place on 7 and 8 May 2016.
- Road closures and diversions will be in place and delays are expected – plan your journeys if you intend to travel through the affected area.
Road closures for work
The roundabout at Milton Interchange will be closed from 8pm on Saturday 7 May to enable the final stages of Oxfordshire County Council’s work to the roundabout to improve access to Milton Park and the A34.
The A34 main carriageway will be open but there will be no access off for Milton or onto the roundabout from any approach. Diversions will be signed.
The team hope to have the signals working and the roads reopened by late afternoon on Sunday 8 May, but the closure period is being advertised as running until 4am on Monday 9 May to allow for changes to temporary traffic management, completion of surfacing and to allow for unforeseen circumstances.

Delays are expected and the county council would like to apologise in advance for this.
After the switch on
When the switch on is complete drivers will see a new layout at the Milton Interchange.
The interchange will have a new ‘hamburger’ style roundabout layout, which will take traffic from Didcot traveling westbound on the A4130 through the centre of the roundabout and then onto the northbound A34 towards Oxford and the M40.
There will be new sets of traffic lights and lanes to follow and drivers are asked to drive with extra care until they are familiar with the new arrangements.
The Milton Park Link has also been widened to four lanes eastbound on the A4130 and on the A34 slip road southbound. The roundabout itself has been widened as has the southbound off slip road and the A4130 approach from Steventon.
Milton services open as usual
While the work continues the local businesses on the A4130 at Milton services, McDonalds, BP Connect, Premier Inn, the Applecart Restaurant, Costa Coffee and Ridgeway Volkswagen all remain open with access available on the A4130 from the Didcot direction.
